Out at the park

March 27, 2017

It’s been a while since we’ve been to the park. The air in Seoul has been really bad lately and so we haven’t been out. I’ve been told to stay home and not move a lot from the clinic so the whole family has been just indoors lately. But Josh wanted to go out and so did Andrea. So it was a Sunday outing for the family.

I sat on the bench with my camera and the stroller with a latte from EDIYA COFFEE.

Josh and Kaden threw a boomerang.

Andrea just ran around.

She really wanted to play too but didn’t quite know how.

My Sweet Andrea

March 15, 2017

It’s been 4 days since this little one started pre-school. She’s doing so well it’s hard to believe. During the first week, she was able to only go for 3days. She was sick so she missed a few days. Then she had an ear infection. It was a rough week for all of us. Then this week came along and when my mother in law went to drop her off, it was like she had been attending pre-school for a while. She went into her classroom and just jumped right in. Continue Reading

Josh and Andrea

February 20, 2017

흔하디 흔한 우리의 아침. 정말 아침에 시어머니가 매일 같이 청소기를 돌리시고 청소를 하시면 우리는 방에서 다들 주전부리와 보고싶은 영상으로 30분을 보낸다. Every single day. Same routine. In the same order. All the time. The kids have now adjusted to this routine and are now so used to it. More than I am.

Valentines Day

February 14, 2017

Kaden and I don’t really do anything special on Valentine’s day.

Oh BTW, did you know that in Korea, WOMEN are supposed to give chocolates to men on Valentine’s day!?!?!!

YEAP! So on Feb 14th, Valentine’s Day, women are to give men chocolates and on March 14th, White Day, men are to give women chocolates and candy.

Korean companies…!!!! Coming up with different ways to sell more candy and sweets!!! AH!!! So Brilliant!!!

Anyways, we usually don’t do anything but today, the kids and I made a card to give to Kaden. Since Kaden is also on a diet (he wants to loose like 5 kgs) I sent him a Starbucks e-card instead of chocolates.

Korean BBQ | GalBi | Shin Keum Ho | Ma Po Gal Bi | 마포숯불갈비 | 신금호역 | 마포갈비 | 금호동 맛집

February 14, 2017

So in Korea, there are probably thousands of Korean BBQ places. Out of all of the places that exist, I like to go to places that are well known to the locals and not the big, huge franchised locations.

The one we went to the other day was near our in-law’s place. Family run and decently priced, MA PO SOOT BUL GAL BI is a place well known to the locals in Keum Ho Dong.

서울특별시 성동구 무수막길 89
서울특별시 성동구 금호동2가 464

전화번호 02-2234-3043

Priced at 13,000 won per serving it’s not the typical super sweet gal bi. It’s marinated with natural ingredients and is served to have that balance of flavors.

We ordered 4 servings then added 2 more servings later on.

Some gal bi places marinate their meat with lots of sweetness. This makes the “eaters” get really tired of the flavor of the meat. Therefore, you can’t eat a whole lot of meat. It makes you drink more water or alcohol than eating the actual meal. You get sick of the gal bi pretty fast. However, here, at Ma Po Gal Bi, everything is nicely balanced and is just enough for even the kids to enjoy.

Each table has its own charcoal burner.

There are about 16 tables for seating and the seating is the kind where you sit on the floor.

Keum Ho Dong Man Du | Dumplings | Gui Il Man Du | 금호동 맛집 | 금호동 만두집

February 13, 2017

Kaden and I took a walk yesterday during the kid’s nap time and we were a bit hungry (just a little) and so we stopped by Keum Ho Dong’s famous dumpling place “귀일만두”.

Just a short walk from Keum Ho Station line #3 (the orange line), Gui Il mandu is famous for their steamed meat dumplings.

8 dumplings for 4 bucks. Not bad eh?

These steel pots are stacked up high with dumplings in them and are cooked by steam that is added to the tall steel towers.

You can eat in, or do take out.

There are about only 5 chairs so if you wanna eat in, you gotta grab a seat FAST.

These dumplings are well known in this neighborhood as street food. Most people just get the dumplings to go. However, we decided to try eating it there while the dumplings were hot.

They also sell Kimchi Dumplings, JJIN BBANG (which has sweet red bean paste in it), and cold Korean noodles AKA Nang Meun 냉면.

We couldn’t go without one so we ordered one to share. They have two kinds, the spicy sauce one and the Mool Nang Meun which is the nonspicy cold noodles. However, if you want, you can get the mixed version which is half and half.

After a good street snack, Kaden and I headed to THEO COFFEE for a nice relaxing quiet time of our own

Daddy and Daughter Bonding Time

February 12, 2017

Andrea and daddy.

Different from Josh, Andrea has a hard time bonding with daddy. It’s actually really sad. She only saw Kaden for about a week after she was born, then for a week when she was about 4 months old.

Then she saw her dad for about a week when she was about 6 months old.

It’s hard to tell if she’s just not emotionally drawn to him or if she’s scared of him or what(?) it is.
